# Orbit Smart Dashboard — 0.1 preview, 29 October 2026 For the Guition JC4827W543 / ESP32-S3 only. This build uses 4 MB flash, OPI PSRAM and the Huge APP partition layout. The application is 2,161,616 bytes with 984,112 bytes of application partition headroom. Firmware reports 0.1; this is not the planned 0.2.0 release. ## Choose the correct image | File | Purpose | Flash offset | Settings | | --- | --- | --- | --- | | orbit-update.bin | Update an existing matching Orbit installation | 0x10000 | Intended to preserve saved settings when flashed without erase | | orbit-fresh-install.bin | Full installation on a matching board | 0x0 | Replaces saved settings and cache; configure again | | partitions-reference.bin | Reference for verifying the layout | Not a standalone installer | Do not flash separately | The owner reports the latest football/UI build tested and working. A separate fresh-install/recovery test and long-duration soak test are not recorded. Treat this as a preview release. ## USB update for an existing matching installation 1. Save a private record of your configuration and provider credentials. Confirm the current board and partition layout match `release-manifest.json`. If they are unknown, do not apply the app-only image. 2. Connect the board with a USB data cable and close Arduino Serial Monitor or other software using its serial port. 3. Use Espressif's official esptool (https://docs.espressif.com/projects/esptool/en/latest/esp32s3/). With esptool 5, substitute your actual serial port for PORT: `esptool --chip esp32s3 --port PORT write-flash 0x10000 orbit-update.bin` 4. Do not enable erase-all, write the merged image, or change partitions during a settings-preserving update. 5. Restart. Confirm startup, touch, saved configuration and enabled information tabs work. This build has no network firmware updater or automatic rollback. ## Fresh installation / recovery Only proceed on the matching board when you are prepared to re-enter configuration. The merged image writes the full 4 MB flash region, including blank configuration/cache regions. `esptool --chip esp32s3 --port PORT write-flash 0x0 orbit-fresh-install.bin` Complete touch calibration if prompted. Join `orbit_smartdashboard-Setup`, open `http://192.168.4.1/`, and enter your Wi-Fi and location. Configure your preferred tabs and any required provider credentials. Use the device IP shown in Settings to return to browser configuration once connected. Keep credentials private. If the board does not appear or will not connect, follow its documented USB download-mode procedure. Do not change security fuses or flash a guessed board layout. ## Verify the download The package includes SHA256SUMS.txt for its individual files. On Windows: `Get-FileHash .\orbit-update.bin -Algorithm SHA256` Compare the result with the entry for that filename. The separate package checksum file verifies the downloaded ZIP before extraction. Checksums detect corruption; they are not a digital signature. ## Included data The public-data directory contains the bundled station/timezone snapshots, provenance and their licences. The application source and private debugging ELF/map are not included. Retain the release identifier when reporting a problem. © 2026 Andy Rogers.
